If you have been coming to the site for a while, you will have noticed that there have been some major changes around here. If you are relatively new, let me just tell you that there have been some major changes around here! We have redesigned the site with the almost singular intent of making it easier to build a community. In the next week or so we will introduce a stable of writers who have agreed to participate in writing articles for the front page. Other users may of course also write for the site, but their articles may not necessarily appear with the others on the front page, unless they receive the recommendation of the community and display under Recommended Articles. If you have an interest in writing for the front page, then please email us at

The Basic Site SetupNotice at the top of your browser, below the Common Good Corporation logo, there is a new menu bar. Two of these menu items - Info and Common Good Store - have submenus which will appear automatically when you move the mouse cursor over a button. The Home menu will always bring you back to the main page of the site. The Articles menu takes you a chronological listing of all articles written for the site. Info provides some context as to who and why we exist. (The FAQ will become more robust as we go along) The Common Good Store menu links to the place where you can buy the book, The Common Good Corporation, professional articles related to the topic, some wares to show your common good spirit, and other items - some of which are free. Check back at the store often as we will be adding new items all the time. The RHD menu will spring you to our parent site, the model for the Common Good Corporation, Resources for Human Development. You'll notice that we have added a place for logging in to the site. If you have a username and password, simply enter them in this spot. If you don't have a username, then we also give you the option to create one. You do not need to be a user to comment on articles, but you will if you want to write articles. Of course, accounts are free. Once you have logged in to the site, the login window changes to show that you are logged in, and your current Profile will be displayed to you. I won't go into all the items there, but you should know that this is the place where you can go to see everything that you have ever written for the site. Below the login, you will see a new section called the User Menu. Here you have options to change your information, submit a new article or web link and log off the site. Below the User Menu is a listing of the recommended articles. This is basically a dynamic listing which changes the more support an article receives. What does that mean? Well, the title of every article that appears on the site is followed be a series of five stars. If you appreciate what gets represented in an article, then you can click the fifth star with your mouse to rate it well. Conversely, a single star gives you the ability to rate an article poorly. Articles with more users giving greater numbers of stars will appear higher on the list. Ratings can also be applied to the Latest Comments listing. This list, however, is in chronological order. About Writing ArticlesAny user who logs into the site may write an article by clicking the Submit and Article link under the User Menu. Give your article a title and start typing away in the editor. Many of the functions that are available in word processors are available in the editor. You can bold, italicize, underline, justify, etc. It will even check your spelling by underlining in red words that it believes are spelled incorrectly. Feel free to experiment with all of the options. Once you are finished, then save your article. You can edit your article at any time by going into your profile, clicking the articles tab, selecting your article, and clicking the edit button to the right of the title. We will review all article submissions. Generally, this is for structure only. That is to say, we want to make sure that it gets posted to the right place. Thank you for being here Most of the above information, and more, will be added to our FAQ page. Check there for more information. We will constantly be adding to it over time. Also, please feel free to email
