As of July 11th a new employee will join a local non-profit corporation with a salary in the $50,000 range. As more workers are being laid off in other organizations this corporation is adding to staff with the use of our local currency - Equal Dollars. The new employee will be paid 1/2 in U.S. currency and 1/2 in Equal Dollars
Where did this corporation get the =$s? The answer is simple - by making an interest free loan of 30,000 =$ from the local currency bank - and it owes those 30,000 back by December of 2014 so it has five years to earn those funds from its community activities.
Now for-profit and non-profit corporations can add to their productivity and employment base (rather than cutting back on needed employees) by borrowing and using this local currency system.
